Nicole Kallish

Nicole Kallish, Manager of Education at Andis Company, attended The Academy of Dog Grooming Arts in Illinois, worked at several shops and kennels. In 2006 she opened and successfully ran her mobile grooming business for 6 years in Illinois then Florida. After selling her mobile business she opened Sarasota Grooming Company which she owned and ran for 5 years. Nicole had worked her way up the ranks in the grooming contest ring earning many 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placements in entry and intermediate levels, including Best Groomed Dog. She received her first “group” placement at the All American Grooming Show in 2011. Nicole won the title of “Rising Star of the Year” at Intergroom in New Jersey in 2013 and moved on to the “open” or “expert” level. Nicole was also a Barkleigh Honors nominee for "Up and Coming Groomer of the Year" in 2011 and 2012 and a nominee for the Cardinal Crystal Achievement Awards “Mobile Groomer of the Year” 2011 and 2012.
Nicole is a Certified Master Groomer, Industry Speaker and Judge, and former Liaison for Groom Team USA.  Nicole currently owns 3 miniature poodles and is showing Sofia in AKC Conformation and Pippa in many AKC Sports events.

Anne Francis (United States)

Anne is a Certified Master Groomer with National Dog Groomers Association of America and has been grooming for over twenty years at the Village Groomer in Walpole, Ma. She has been an active competitor reaching her goal of becoming a GroomTeam USA member. She has been nominated for Barkleigh Honors Awards for Up and Coming Speaker and Journalist of the Year. She has won the Cardinal Crystal Grooming Award for Journalism for her “How To” article in Grooming Business Magazine. She has received the Taxi award, which is given to the groomer who brings out the best personality in their mixed breed trim. One of her most cherished awards Anne has received is the William Stone Memorial Award given to the groomer who has the best rapport with the dogs they compete with.  Having taught in England and the USA, Anne is passionate about teaching other groomers and helping them reach their personal and professional goals. 

Alexander Zapata (Columbia)

Alexander has been a professional canine stylist for over 10 years. He is the President and Founder of the Colombian Association of Professional Canine Stylists (ACECPRO), and the Director of the Mexican Association of Professional Canine Stylists (AMECP) School. Alexander specializes in the many Asian styles of grooming and has traveled around South America and Europe giving seminars and judging competitions. He is an Honorary Member of the Chilean Association of Canine Stylists (ACHIPECA), and the Creative Grooming Association of Spain. Alexander is the first ever Latin American Groomer to record episodes for the YouTube channel Pel a Pel Tv which is based in Barcelona, Spain.

Amy Manser (United Kingdom)

Amy has been showing and grooming dogs for over 20 years. She runs a kennel of show dogs and has raised multiple champions and top dogs across four different breeds. Amy also runs a professional grooming salon and trains young groomers. She has competed in several grooming competitions and has been awarded several BIS show awards from the United Kingdom and Europe. Amy is a two time winner of Groomer of the Year and is currently a member of Groom Team England and the Guild of Master Groomers.

Annie Williams (Canada)

Annie was drawn to the art of dog grooming after her family got “Domino”, an American Cocker Spaniel. She began to learn about show dogs and get involved in conformation dog shows. As her passion grew, Annie decided to make a career out of grooming and open a salon. She was hand selected by a World Champion groomer and endured an intense four-month training program in Alberta, Canada. Annie is an active member of the Canadian Professional Pet Stylists, and has earned her Canadian Canine Stylist Level 2 Status in Sporting and Non-Sporting. She is also trained in Dogsafe Canine First Aid and has won international awards in Canada, the United States and Australia. Annie is extremely passionate about her profession and continues to vigorously further her education to heighten her certification and bring the latest styles and trends to her customers.

Christine Speerin (Australia)

Christine taught herself to groom on her family kitchen table. Her father told her there was no future in dog grooming but through her passion and dedication Christine became one of the most successful groomers and grooming trainers in Australia. She now owns multiple successful grooming businesses and companies which she operates with her husband Les. Some of Christine’s career achievements include: International Certified Master Groomer (ICMG), Certifier for Australian Institute Pet Groomers (AIPG), and she is an Original Member and Co-Founder of Groom Team Australia. In 2011 Christine was invited to be a spokesperson, demonstrator and judge at the first ever “Creative Summit” in the United States. She has held workshops, and judged competitions worldwide, including the United States, New Zealand, South Korea and Australia. Being involved in the grooming industry worldwide, Christine stays up to date on current grooming trends and uses her enthusiasm and knowledge to inspire up and coming groomers.

Dana Chavez-Rey (United States)

Dana was a lead veterinary technician at the North Peninsula Humane Society from 1998-2000. While working there she witnessed firsthand the importance of basic care for our pets. Dana moved from there to emergency veterinary care at the North Peninsula Veterinary Emergency as a senior veterinary technician from 2000-2002. From 2002-2005, Dana worked at a Sacramento area veterinary corporation that specialized in veterinary dentistry. In 2005, Dana and her husband Alex founded A Purrfect Groomer and after having a brick and mortar salon for 10 years they ditched the salon and hit the road in their new mobile grooming van bringing the care and attention they gave to their salon clients to them. In 2016, Dana joined the Intellectual Groomers Association as a founding member and was on staff as an expert in feline grooming. As a staff member of IGA, Dana traveled the country giving seminars on feline grooming and certifying qualified groomers. She also wrote the guidelines that were used in feline certification. As one of the newest members of the Andis Education team, Dana will be bringing her expertise in grooming cats and dogs to seminars across the country.

Diane Betelak (United States)

Diane Betelak, NCMG, has owned Heads and Tails Professional Dog Grooming, Inc. in Liverpool, NY since 1982. She groomed competitively in the U.S. and abroad and has numerous "Best in Shows" and "Best All-Around Groomer" wins and placings in prestigious competitions. In 1996, Diane qualified for the GroomTeam USA traveling team and went to Milan, Italy, where she won "Best in Show" with her Standard Poodle, helping the team clinch the gold medal. In addition, she has judged all major grooming shows throughout the United States and Canada and is a certifier for N.D.G.A.A. In 1997, she was the recipient of the Cardinal Crystal Award for American Groomer of the Year, and in 2011 was named its Grooming Competition Judge of the Year. Although now retired from competitive grooming, Diane remains active as a grooming educator for Andis Company where she teaches the finer points of grooming across North America. Diane has also been showing championship Standard Poodles in confirmation and obedience since 1987, winning multiple titles. She is now actively competing in agility with her current poodles, Sid and Rickie Boa.

Gabriel Feitosa (United States)

Gabriel Feitosa is a world-renowned award-winning groomer, judge, speaker and handler. With over 15 years in the industry, Gabriel got his start in the industry at age 12 in Brazil. In 2015, he was invited to the United States to assist top show handlers. Under their mentorship, Gabriel attained a higher level of understanding in dog structure, show grooming and handling of many breeds. Gabriel is now the owner of Gabriel Feitosa Grooming Salon in San Diego, California where he can use his skills to pamper the pets of Southern California.  Gabriel is a proud representative Utsumi and Hydra and is the newest member of the Andis Education team.  

Jessica Moore (United States)

Jessica, CMG, IGMS, is the owner of Show Stoppers Pet Styling in Waukegan, Illinois. Jessica has been a pet stylist for 19 years. She started working in a grooming salon in her early teens bathing dogs. After several years of grooming on her own for both corporate and private salons, she took the leap into the grooming competition ring in 2006. After accelerating in the competition ring, she moved from entry-level to open level in a matter of a few shows. Jessica has won a multitude of 1st, 2nd and 3rd place wins including many group placements in entry, intermediate and open level as well as several Best Groomed Dog Awards and Best in Show.
After taking a break from competing for a few years to focus on growing her family as well as her business, Jessica took it a step further and started giving private lessons and doing hands on grooming workshops. In addition to attending grooming shows, running a business and private lessons Jessica also shows her Standard Poodles in AKC conformation shows with her daughter Janae.

Jette Creutz (Sweden)

Jette is the owner and founder of Swedgroom Dog Grooming Educations (SDGE) in Malmö, Sweden. She has been a full-time dog groomer since 1998 and spent four years organizing grooming competitions for the European Grooming Association EGA. In 2017 Jette became a “IGU Certifier” and traveled to South Korea to certify groomers. She believes that grooming education is never complete so Jette continues to take classes and seminars so she can stay on top of trends and techniques. Her main passion is uplifting the dog grooming profession through quality education and sharing valuable knowledge through hands-on demonstrations.

Joyce Oliveira (Brazil)

Joyce has been working as a pet groomer since 2005, participating in several courses, workshops and specialty seminars. In 2010 she opened her own grooming salon, taking care of the well-being and grooming of pets.

In 2016, Joyce participated in her first grooming competition, earning 1st place in the Japanese Grooming category at Groom Brasil.

In 2018 Joyce won the prestigous Shirley Kalstone award, honoring encouraged growth, education, and camaraderie in the grooming industry on an international level.

In 2019 she was named Groomer Reference Hydra by Pet Society. Joyce is a member of the International Groomer Association and has now been a judge for two years at Master Groom Brazil.


Kendra Otto (United States)

Kendra graduated from The Great Lakes Academy of Professional Pet Styling in 1997. A successful competitor, she ranked top 10 in the country for four consecutive years, as well being the top-ranked pet stylist in the state of IL during that time. Kendra has placed at every major U.S. grooming competition and won multiple Best-in-Show/Best All-Around Groomer awards. Other competitive highlights include: multiple Creative Styling awards, Artistic Innovation awards, Superzoo Jackpot Invitational (6th of 50), the Liz Paul Scissoring Award, the 2011 and 2012 Cardinal Crystal Congeniality Award, the Groomie Spirit Award, a nominee for 2009 Cardinal Crystal American Groomer of the Year and the Will Stone Memorial Award for kindness to animals. In addition, she has placed in multiple Rescue Rodeos in Las Vegas and Atlanta and assists Woburn Scottish Terriers in exhibiting their dogs at American Kennel Club conformation shows, as well as styles other breeds shown in AKC shows. She also enjoys styling rare breeds and was the first competitor to bring the Hungarian Pumi in the grooming contest ring. She specializes in working with fearful dogs on the grooming table and enjoys building their trust and seeing the transformation of their behavior. This part of her job she finds more rewarding than any award she has ever received.

Luiz Renato (Brazil)

Luiz is an international grooming champion as well as a judge for the European Grooming Association, the largest worldwide association. He started his career in 1997 in São Paulo, Brazil and made his debut in 2005 by winning the Best Bichon Frisé award. Today, with a career lasting more than 20 years, he is the owner of Grooming Time, a 5-star rated grooming salon, and Grooming & Care, a pet day care. He is also the vice-president of the Brazilian Animal Grooming Association and a member of Groom Team Brazil ranking first in the sporting class in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Manuel Graniel (Mexico)

Manuel Graniel was a breeder of Siberian Huskies from 1995 to 2008, with multiple Best in Show of all breeds as well as a Professional Handler of breeds including Boxers, Afghans, Kerry Blue Terriers, Shih Tzus Pomeranians, Chinese Crested, Poodles and many other breeds. He has been a Grooming Instructor since 2013 when he started a career as a commercial Groomer. Manuel is a creator of several techniques for the best use and handling of grooming tools. A multiple awards winner of grooming competitions in Pasadena-California, Las Vegas, Nevada and Mexico. Manuel is the Instructor Coordinator for Alianz Canine Worldwide -ACW for Latin America; as well as the ACW – Mexico. Representative. “I think that the education of a good Groomer comes hand in hand with a comprehensive operation of the professional tools”.

Maria Zakharchenko (Spain)

Originally from the Ukraine, Maria Zakharchenko started as a Veterinarian, and in 2006 she became a groomer. Within two years, Maria opened her first grooming salon and by 2017 she had 5 salons across her state.  In 2009 Maria also opened MaryGroom, a grooming school, followed by a grooming tool retail shop and service center. In 2017 Maria relocated to Valencia, Spain and now shares her passion of educating other groomers by working as a grooming instructor with Alianz Europe, a global union of national associations related to the canine. During these years Maria also became a grooming competitor and achieved many placements. In 2018 Maria earned a spot on Spain’s National Grooming team and has represented the Country in various international grooming competitions. Maria teaches seminars across Europe and is now a grooming contest judge. As one of the newest members of the Andis Education team, Maria hopes to reach as many groomers as possible to share her knowledge and expertise in grooming.

Melanie Winters Holmes (United Kingdom)

Melanie has been grooming for 27 years specializing in private training, corporate management and college instruction. She has won several grooming competitions including the title of Groomer of the Year. Melanie was a member of Groom Team England for 10 years and is currently a member of the Guild of Groomers. She is an examiner for the higher qualifications and City/Guild Practical Examinations. Melanie now judges many competitions and gives seminars on a variety of grooming topics at all major grooming events as well as for private groups.

Michelle Worthy (United States)

Michelle Worthy is an internationally certified Master Groomer. She’s been in the pet industry for almost 30 years and enjoys the travel time, sportsmanship and lifelong friendships she’s established from being an open level competitor. Michelle is from Tennessee and owns 8 dogs and 3 cats. 

Miki Takagi (Japan)

Miki Takagi is a Professional Pet Groomer who is a certified JKC A-class trimmer, and owner of three pet salons. She also began her judging career in Japan and other Asian counties several years ago. As a competitive groomer, she won many prizes in various contests which includes Groom Expo and Superzoo. In 2018, she got the first Place in the Bichon Frise and the All-Pure Breeds class. In the following year 2019, she won first place in the Salon Freestyle class. In addition, she is known to many groomers in Asia as an author of "Speed Trimming". She has been given lectures on more than 500 seminars as a speaker with her original content since 2013. Then in 2015, she launched the "Speed Trimming Curriculum" which is popular with many Japanese groomers. In 2018, She appeared on Netflix's "Dog Story season 4" documentary.


Philip Schafmayer

Philip Schafmayer NCMG was a Professional All Breed AKC Handler for over 18 years, successfully campaigning some of the top dogs in the country in various breeds, including multiple #1 nationally ranked dogs for their respective breeds in AKC.
Throughout his career he garnered over 30 AKC All Breed Best in Shows on multiple dogs of varying breeds, as well as earning over 70 AKC Specialty Bests in Show awards, including numerous National Specialty placements.
As a breeder Philip bred, owned, and handled Afghan Hounds, Bichons Frisés, Standard Poodles and Tibetan Terriers for over 25 years. He has bred multiple BIS/SBIS winners in over 7 different countries and has a cumulative total of almost 100 AKC Champions.
Philip has been a professional pet stylist since 1997 and has worked in many areas of the industry. He was the former Director of Canine Clippers School of Dog Grooming in Dumfries, VA 2006.
Philip is a Certified Master Groomer with NDGAA. In 2017, he was awarded Best in Show and Best All Around Groomer at NEPGP- his very first competition. He was awarded this again at NEPGP in 2018. 
Philip made the GroomTeam USA Top 10 in 2017 and 2018 earning him the spot of GroomTeam USA World Travel Team alternate. 2019 was the first full year Philip competed and he finished the year as #1 groomer in GroomTeam USA points: as well as receiving the honor of becoming Barkleigh’s Groomer of the Year.

Shannon Tupes (United States)

Shannon started her career working as a part-time dog bather while in college. That introduction to the industry led her to attend grooming school over the summer and would put her on a successful career path in pet styling spanning more than 25 years. Shannon is involved with purebred Yorkshire Terriers and Bichon Frises and not only shows them, but was a past member of the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America (YTCA) and an active member of the Bichon Club of America where she is also a club-approved ringside judge and mentor. Additional grooming titles include Certified Master Groomer with the NDGAA, she is a member of Groom Team USA  and is on the Board of Directors for Groom Team USA. Shannon has used Andis products since her start in the industry and she credits them for not only making her job easier, but helping her to become the groomer she is today. She gives back by teaching online and in-person seminars throughout the U.S. as well as offering private tutorials for new groomers entering the industry.

Tammy Siert (United States)

Tammy Siert’s grooming career began in 1990 while working as a receptionist for a friend’s grooming salon. She quickly fell in love with the art of dog grooming and started to attend local dog shows with the salon owner, who showed and bred Bichon Frises. After apprenticing with him for a few years, she competed in her first show at the All American Grooming Show where she was bumped up to A-level status. Naturally, she became hooked on competing! After a long career in the grooming ring, earning multiple Best in Show Awards and making GroomTeam USA, she retired from competition in 2013. Tammy is currently a Global Educator for Andis, grooming contest judge, secretary for GroomTeam USA and manager of a popular, upscale grooming salon in Hinsdale, IL.

Valerie Partynski (United States)

Valerie has been grooming professionally since 2001. Her mother was a pet groomer, so she grew up working in a shop environment starting from a very young age. She grew up with a Standard Poodle named Java and learned to train and compete with him in AKC Junior Handling and eventually began learning how to groom him herself. At the age of 17, she enrolled at the Great Lakes Grooming Academy to get formal training from award-winning groomers, Meggan and Jeanne Mulcahy. She graduated from the Great Lakes Grooming Academy in 2001, where she eventually became an instructor for several years. She continues her education by attending several grooming shows each year to learn new techniques and styles.  She also competes in the grooming competitions at these shows and has won several awards including a “Best in Show” and “Best All Around Groomer” in 2010.  She was ranked as one of the top 20 groomers in the country in 2013 and was also nominated for both of the national awards “Up and Coming Groomer of the Year” in 2014 and also “Up and Coming Speaker of the Year” in 2015 . She has worked with AKC show handlers learning show cuts on Poodles, and handstripping on Lakeland Terriers and Wire-haired Dachshunds. Her favorite breeds to groom are Poodles and Terriers, and she also enjoys creating stylized trims on mixed breeds. Valerie is also Canine CPR certified.
